If you travelled around Serbian lands you have probably noticed that our villages, unlike those in Western Europe, lie mostly along roads.
That’s because a road is a television set for the poor.
Before newspapers, telephones, telegraphs, radio, or TV were invented, the important news used to travel by road. Roads used to carry away the most courageous and the most curious. Dressed up invading armies with shining weapons used to march along roads, with soldiers singing and war machines roaring.
After some time they would come back on the same muddy of frozen road, in torn uniforms, crippled, chilled and defeated, leaning on their guns, without order, like a bunch of chicken thieves…
